Signups in Discord, planning on the web
The bot posts a raid, collects signups and keeps the post current as people change their minds. Everything it learns shows up on the roster and the assignment boards immediately - it is one roster, not two that need syncing.
Getting set up
Invite the bot
Two scopes and three channel permissions, listed below. No privileged intents to argue with Discord about.
Say who may lead raids
Point Pugger at the Discord roles your officers already have. Everyone else gets the boards read-only - they can look at anything, change nothing. With no roles named, nobody can edit, which is the safe way round.
Name your realm (optional)
/realms add turns on the Warcraft Logs numbers. Skip it and everything else still works.
Run /raid
That is the whole setup. The first raid post is also the first thing anyone has to learn.
How signing up feels
Pick a class
One dropdown on the post. No command to learn, nothing to install.
Answer once
The first time someone signs up as a class, the bot asks for the character name, spec and anything worth noting. It remembers, per class - a warrior one week and a priest the next are two characters, not a change of mind.
Change your mind freely
Tentative and Absent are buttons on the same post. "Edit my signup" changes spec or corrects a name without bothering the raid leader.
Commands
Creates a raid and posts it for signups. Takes a title, a date and a time, then asks which instances the night covers - pick several and they stay in the order you picked them.
Optional. Names the WoW realms your Discord raids on, which is what lets the roster show each signup's Warcraft Logs standing. Add none and that part of the app simply stays off.
What it asks for
Scopes
bot, applications.commands
Channel permissions
View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links
Privileged intents
None - it only reacts to its own commands and buttons
Roles are read from the interactions people send it, so it never needs to see your member list.
Curious what the raid leader sees once signups are in? The roster, the assignment boards and the player pages are all in the app.
